The role of the driver has changed considerably in the last decade. In-vehicle technology has advanced considerably and so requires a greater understanding by the driver of the technology to get the best out of the vehicle. The role of the driver is more complex and greater demands in terms of regulations, personal health and of course road safety, all require a considerable amount of knowledge and expertise by the driver to stay compliant. Drivers require training and mentoring in order to maximise their performance. The transport team plays a very significant role in ensuring that drivers are confident that they are not subjected to situations that would jeopardise their job.
